As Seen In: Food & Wine

Happy May everyone! Have you picked up a copy of this month's Food & Wine magazine? It is a colorful explosion of beautiful, seasonal recipes I just can't wait to try! There is so, so much color in this issue, which really excites me. Each page is filed with recipes specifically written with fresh, seasonal produce in mind.

These are the kind of recipes that make me want to really up my gardening game, and throw a dinner party like every night of the week for the next four months. Seriously, it's a good issue. Oh, and I happen to have two pieces of porcelain in it! Check out my Pour Bowl and Scalloped Platter serving up this tasty Mayan Pumpkin Seed Dip!:

(Food & Wine, May 2013)

Since picking up this issue I can't stop thinking about bright, saturated colors and the feeling they bring to any table. Namely, that instant sensation of celebration. These are the kind of pieces that make your guests smile, and make even the simplest dish look like you spent hours making it. The kind of pieces that cause such exclamations as, "Gee whiz! You sure know how to throw a party!" Or something like that, a little less poodle-skirt.

When setting your party table forget plasticware. Yuck (and boring). Think bright, punchy hued porcelain instead. It's fun, modern, yet timeless and elegant. That's about everything I want in a dinner party and more. And that's just the tableware!

Anything would be party-ready served in these pieces, especially set atop that gorgeous runner. Chips and dip are just the beginning. I always go to dessert-world in my mind when imagining the potential of a serving piece. So with that admitted, I see this set up and think freshly whipped, fluffy cream in the pour bowl with a drizzle of chocolate ganache, silver spoon resting in that little spout ready to serve, and bright, juicy strawberries piled high in the platter. See? Three ingredients. Party ready! Now what to wear...
