ABOUT: Suite One Studio

I’m Lindsay Emery, owner and artist behind Suite One Studio.

I work from my Greensboro, North Carolina studio where I make feminine, modern pottery now recognized and sold throughout the world!

After a 15 year break from painting I picked up my brushes at the start of the pandemic, right as the world started to change.

During this challenging time, my newly rekindled painting practice has brought tremendous joy, beauty, and calm into my life and it’s my hope that they’ll bring the same into your home!

I began Suite One Studio in 2009 with little to no plan and the same amount of money. I quickly learned how to run a thriving online art business, partnering with companies like Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Samsung, and Chobani to bring creative projects to life for their brands.

I finished college with a BA in ceramics a minor in psychology, and a whole lot of art history courses (if I was at all inclined to a 9-5 job my dream would be to work in a museum!)

I spend my days creating art surrounded by my sweet pets (you’ll see them a lot in my Instagram stories!) and my wonderful and supportive spouse Kim who works with me full-time and generally keeps me sane and all the things running like clockwork. (More on Kim below.)

In 2018 I cofounded, The Studio Source with painter, Allie Dattilio. This online program and community teaches artists how to build their dream online art careers.

I get to work my dream job as an artist every single day— and have for over a decade now! Every order helps support the growth of our small LGBTQ+ owned business. This growth is a gift I aim to magnify by helping other artists do the same through my courses and coaching.

Meet Kim!

Not one to write a bio about herself, I (Lindsay) will continue on as your narrator and introduce you to the other half of Suite One Studio.

Since 2005 when I first began working in clay as a college student Kim was there cheering me on. She believed in Suite One Studio before it even existed. It is through Kim’s selfless dedication to my dream of being an artist that has at many times kept our business alive. (Although she would never say this herself.)

Since 2015 Kim has worked full-time as the Operations Manager here at Suite One Studio. She has planned, organized, and streamlined countless aspects of the business.

In addition to her management skills (and what she affectionately calls, “Lindsay wrangling”) Kim works in the ceramic studio producing many of the forms that I finish and embellish. To say it’s a team effort is an understatement of the elaborate choreography we’ve created together.

Kim loves a few things with all of her heart: Cats, me, and Buffy— yes, that Buffy.

To summarize Kim’s behind the scenes commitment to my dream, I’ll leave you with what she just said as she walked in and saw me typing, “Aww.. you don’t have to write anything about me.”
